Cbank: Russians’ net demand for foreign currency rises 37% in Nov
MOSCOW, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- Russians’ net demand for foreign currency cash grew by 37% on the month to U.S. $2.1 billion in November, the central bank said on Wednesday.
Net demand for the U.S. dollars increased by 15%, while demand for the euros rose by 9%.
Foreign currency cash purchases at banks increased by 20% to $2.1 billion. Purchases of the U.S. dollars went up by 24% on the month and purchases of euros grew by 10%. Sales of foreign currency to banks by individuals fell by 12% to $0.8 billion.
Imports of foreign currency by banks increased by 47% on the month to $2.6 billion.
